Electronic Medical Records

Why do we need an EMR?

Electronic medical records are the most efficient way to manage all patient data and communicate with other providers and patients.  The implementation of EMR increases clinical quality and economic effi-ciency within the practice and within the medical community.  It can provide evidence-based clinical de-cision support.  EMRs can help in management of patients with chronic disease.

EMRs can help provide the data needed to demonstrate the value of your medical services.  Recently, the US government has virtually mandated the implementation of EMRs throughout the health care system with incentive programs that will are generous in 2011 and 2012.  These incentives become less generous in 2013 and 2014.  By 2015 those practices that do not have functional EMR systems in place will be penalized through lower Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements.

What EMR should we choose?

The EMR system should be enterprise capable and accommodate multiple specialties so that several independent practices can share the same database.  It should have an integrated practice management system to maximize practice efficiency.  And it must be customizable.

HVA works with several EMR system vendors, all of which are certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). In this way, HVA clients qualify for government grant money and other incentives to help offset the cost of EMR implementation.  To narrow your search for the best EMR vendor for your medical organization, please contact us.

EMR implementation will destroy our productivity and cash flow, won’t it?
It doesn’t have to.  HVA has developed a QuickStart method that will allow for deployment and 100% adoption of your EMR in 4 months with less than 3% loss of productivity.  It will also insure that each practice has its own super-user to provide real-time Level I help desk support.
